It may seem difficult to change your diet to vegetarian, but it’s actually a lot easier than it seems. In honor of World Vegetarian Day on October 1st, here are some tips to transition from meat lover to plant-eater.
When first adapting to a vegetarian diet it can be hard to know where to start. One tip is to find plant-based substitutes for the meat-based foods you already know and love. These could include plant-based burgers or veggie sausage.
Another huge food item in a vegetarian’s diet is tofu. It often gets a bad name for itself but that’s usually because those who have tried it haven’t used a tasty enough recipe for it. Experiment with different tofu recipes and techniques to find which ones you enjoy the most and it’ll become a staple in your diet.
It’s super easy to turn some of your favorite foods into a veggie-friendly item. Try and introduce more grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits to your favorite meals, such as pizza toppings.
If becoming a total vegetarian seems impossible and super daunting, try pescetarianism first. Cut out meat from your diet but continue to eat fish and shellfish.
If you’re not an expert cook, that’s okay too! Test out different vegetarian takeout options. They’re super tasty and it’s a great way to get inspiration for making your own veggie meals.
