Voila! Dramatic Plants That Completely Transform With Watering

Plants are a gorgeous addition to any home, bringing a room to life with color and nature. While plants are generally less maintenance than pets, they can still be surprisingly difficult to care for. People who aren't gardening experts can be caught off-guard by how challenging it is to keep things green, lush, and thriving. These plant owners learned just how sad-looking plants can become without water. You won't believe the difference that a few hours can make to a plant's appearance!

A Complete Revival

This plant was so droopy before being watered that the leaves nearly touched the floor! It reminds us of someone dramatically leaned over with their limp arms dangling to the sides. Afterward, the plant is preppy as can be.

Twitter user @KARIFAUX exclaimed, "I revived my friend's plant, Plantasia, yesterday and I'm really proud." They should be proud of that transformation, and their friend should also be proud of coming up with the clever name "Plantasia."

Dark And Depressed

This plant's wilted leaves are so dark that it's hard to tell if it's still alive or not. The black-purple color certainly isn't helping this droopy plant look any more lively. Even the plant owner said that it looked "sad."

They say that humans think pets have thoughts and emotions that they don't really have, and that certainly seems to be true for plants, as well. Just half an hour after being watered, this plant became "happy" again.

From Pruney To Perky

This plant may have needed water, but even so, it looked like something that was soaking in the water for too long and now is all pruney and wrinkled. The transformation is so extreme that we wouldn't be surprised if these photos were taken months apart.

Even the owner's Twitter followers weren't buying the dramatic results. One person accused the plant of "putting on a show." It would be hilarious if plants had that much control over their appearance.

From Dull To Shiny

This plant went from looking like old spinach to being shiny and bright in no time! It must have these transformations often because even its owner admitted she calls the plant her little drama queen.

It does appear that the plant was convinced it was near the end at one point. As soon as it got what it needed, it looked like a model plant. Truly, the after photo is so impressive, we almost thought it was made of plastic.

Curled-Up Leaves

This plant's before photo stands out among the rest since the leaves are not shriveled, but curled up like a scroll. Even the stems are still standing rather upright for a plant that is clearly in need of TLC.

After being watered, the leaves flattened right out to reveal their green tops and hide their red underbellies. According to the owner, it only took 30 minutes after watering for this plant to straighten itself out, literally.

Cheerful After Water

This plant didn't have a single stem that wasn't drooping over the sides of the pot before being watered. Afterward, the plant is as perky as can be, as though it never missed a beat.

The owner of this plant posted on Twitter, "Literally forgot to water for ONE day... the dramatics." If you have a plant that is meant to live in rainy weather, you may have had this problem, too. As for us, we'll stick to succulents.

Hanging Low

This hanging plant looked pathetic as can be before getting watered. Its owner posted on Reddit, saying that it took less than a day for this houseplant's frown to turn upside down.

After being watered, the vines strengthened so much that they are lifted, even with gravity's pull. It could just be the lighting, but the leaves look like they're darker and more full in the after photo, as well. The plant is no longer a sad eyesore.

Even The Owner Was Shocked

This plant has such long stems that you can't miss the signs it needs water. In the before photo, the leaves were dangling down to the floor. Afterward, they are lifted on stems that must be more than a foot tall!

Even the owner was shocked at how dejected the plant had looked. The Redditor wrote, "I've never seen her be THIS dramatic before." They also mentioned that there was only an hour in between the photos.

Jealous Of The Rain

This plant didn't just look sad in the before photo, it looked jealous. It's downright cruel to place a dry plant in front of a window on a rainy day. On the plus side, the plant perked right up just moments later.

The Redditor wrote that this is their "most dramatic plant." It looks as though the plant cheered up once the rain cleared and the sun came out, but the owner assured everyone that it was watering that made all the difference.

Spreading Its Wings

This plant owner took a photo from above, rather than from the side. The unique perspective really emphasizes how rolled-up the leaves were before getting watered. The initial photo was even taken while the plant was in the sink.

As soon as it got a taste of that water, the plant spread its leaves like wings, flattening out to reveal a beautiful pattern. Even after being watered, you can still see some of the leaves are curled in the center, though.

Perked-Up Parsley

This parsley plant was hanging so flatly in the before photo that it looked like someone just came up and stepped on it. The owner posted that it was a mere twenty minutes after watering that the stems shot up like rockets.

When the parsley was drooping, you could see that a few of the stems and leaves were already on their way to turning yellow. As soon as it got some water, the stems lifted up and those yellow leaves disappeared into the background.

A Much-Needed Night's "Rest"

This plant made an overnight transformation, which has us second-guessing if plants truly don't sleep. The before photo was taken around 10 at night, while the after photo was from 10 AM.

Initially, the plant's leaves were so droopy that they clung to the sides of the pot lifelessly. The after photo shows those same leaves lifted into the air, held up by strong stems. We probably look the same heading into bed compared to rising for a new day.

This plant is unique because both its chiles and its stems look roughly the same in either photo. It's only when you zero in on the leaves that you can see the major difference between the before and after.

Before being watered, the leaves looked small and limp. Afterward, they bloomed like a flower, transforming in both shape and color. According to the owner, there were two hours between the first photo and the second one.

If you're looking for a plant that still is beautiful even when it's being dramatic, this may be the one for you. The drooping leaves serve to show off the pretty pattern on top, and they haven't even begun to curl or shrivel.

Still, there's a marked improvement in the plant's stature after being watered. The leaves are so erect that you can see their purple bottom. Though this Redditor called the plant "overly dramatic," we would prefer the term "misunderstood."

She Didn't Like Being Moved

This plant didn't take well to being moved to a different pot. It also didn't help that it was in desperate need of some water. In just three hours' time, the leaves went from being somewhat perky to looking distraught.

The leaves also look tremendously less shiny without water. Furthermore, they're all twisted about, as though to make it loud and clear that this plant is in complete defiance. Who knew plants have so much in common with teenagers? Hopefully, this one will adapt to its new pot soon.

Only An Hour After Watering

This plant looked moments away from losing all of its leaves and completely falling apart. Miraculously, it only took a little water and within an hour the leaves were in full bloom.

The reason it had dried up is that it's an office plant, and the owner left it behind on a four-day weekend. Fortunately, this plant had no problem bouncing back like a pro. If only us humans could have such a quick turnaround.

This broccoli plant looks especially shriveled up, as though someone wrung out all the water from its leaves. It's kind of like a sad salad that's been sitting on the counter for much too long.

@Squints_Forever simply wrote, "My broccoli plant was very dramatic today," as though there's no logical explanation why it's sagging at this moment. Like us humans, this plant has good days, and it has not-so-good days. This day was a rough one but we're sure it perked right back up.

At first glance, this transformation may not be as overt as some of the others we've seen, partly because the photos are taken at different angles. The key is to look at where the leaves fall against the pot.

In the after photo, it's clear that the leaves are far higher up, barely covering the pot. The long stems are also reaching up toward the ceiling after being watered. This understanding plant owner wrote, "She's dramatic but I get it."

The Dramatic Nerve Plant

This plant was so shriveled up before being watered that the leaves were even wavier than usual. It looked like something you'd see growing over a fence in a haunted garden. The Redditor wrote, "I was warned nerve plants are drama queens."

At least they knew what they were getting into. Fortunately, it only took 90 minutes after being watered for this plant to look as good as new. The leaves filled back out to reveal its gorgeous pattern.

Desperate For The Window Seat

This plant looked dramatically different after being placed near the window. It was so shriveled up and dry that each stem looked like it could snap in half. The plant's owner couldn't believe how dramatic the plant was being.

They wrote that a couple of days without water would result in the plant looking decrepit. Yet, that wasn't the issue here. Only half a day near the window resulted in a complete (but hopefully temporary) plant transformation.
