Here’s How These Stars Dropped Weight During Quarantine

Losing weight can be challenging, especially during a worldwide pandemic. These stars didn’t let the quarantine keep them from sticking to their goals and losing weight. For some celebrities, the crisis helped push them to get serious about their health. Read on to see how Tiffany Haddish, Rob Kardashian, and others got fit in 2020.

Kelly Osbourne: 85 Pounds

Kelly Osbourne dropped 85 pounds in 2020 with diet, exercise, and some help from a gastric sleeve surgery. The reality TV star also went to therapy, telling Hollywood Raw, “I had to fix my head before I could fix my body.”

Osbourne had dropped 20 pounds years prior while competing in Dancing With The Stars, but she gained the weight back after the season ended. This time, she revamped her lifestyle by getting a personal trainer and sticking to a healthy diet.

Adele: 100 Pounds

Though Adele hasn’t been very public about her weightloss journey, experts estimate that she’s lost about 100 pounds! Her journey was gradual and reportedly began before her 2016 tour. The singer started working with personal trainer Pete Geracimo and reportedly stuck to the Sirtfood Diet, which hones in on foods that activate the protein sirtuin.

Though Adele’s weightloss journey has been years in the making, it was in 2020 that her new physique became publicly apparent. She even addressed the transformation when she hosted Saturday Night Live on October 24, 2020.

Rebel Wilson: 60 Pounds

Before quarantine, Rebel Wilson declared 2020 her “year of health.” It couldn’t have been better timing, and she stuck with her goals through the challenging year. The actress ended up dropping 60 pounds by working out with personal trainer Jono Castano.

Their workouts incorporated high-intensity interval training with cardio and weight training. Wilson would take only one day off each week. Likewise, she would allow herself one cheat day from her strict diet. The actress said on The Drew Barrymore Show that she feels much healthier and like she’s coming into her own.

Tiffany Haddish: 50 Pounds

In December 2020, comedian Tiffany Haddish announced that she was down 40 pounds after deciding to get healthy in 2019. At the start of 2021, Haddish shed another 10 pounds through a 30-day fitness challenge.

She told People that she has made it a habit to workout every day for at least 15 minutes, and sometimes up to two hours. Some of her favorite activities include dancing, running up and down the stairs, and cycling on her Peloton bike. Getting in her workouts sometimes meant waking up as early as 2 a.m.! She also adapted a cleaner diet heavy on vegetables.

Action Bronson: 127 Pounds

Rapper Action Bronson lost 127 pounds during quarantine! He started sharing images and videos of himself at the gym on social media around the middle of 2020. The performer told Men’s Health that the birth of his son the year prior motivated him to get healthy.

To get in shape, Bronson started waking up early to workout with personal trainer Dave Paladino. His routine includes a mixture of boxing and weight training. He also sticks to a diet that starts with a protein shake, eggs, rye toast, and avocado for breakfast.

Ayesha Curry: 35 Pounds

Cookbook author and wife of NBA player Stephen Curry, Ayesha Curry dropped 35 pounds in 2020. In an Instagram post, Curry shared that her goal was to become strong and healthy for her family.

She told Harper’s Bazaar that fitness wasn’t a big part of her life before, but now she works out five days a week. Some of her favorite activities include bike riding with family, online workouts, and resistance training. Curry also told People that she loves to char her veggies.

Rob Kardashian: 50 Pounds

Rob Kardashian hasn’t been very public about his 2020 weightloss, but sources have confirmed that the reality TV star dropped some pounds in quarantine. An insider told Life & Style that Rob has been working out with his sister Khlo√© to get into shape with cardio and strength training.

He reportedly has also stuck to a healthier, high-protein diet. Since Rob hasn’t been overt about how much weight he’s lost, Life & Style turned to Dr. Niket Sonpal for an estimation based on his photos. He presumes that Rob has lost around 50 pounds as of June 2020.

Marissa Jaret Winoker: 50 Pounds

Broadway and television actress Marissa Jaret Winokur dropped 50 pounds in 2020. She wrote in an Instagram post that the pandemic motivated her to get healthy, which she did by working with a personal trainer over Zoom.

Winokur also transformed her diet, which helped her shed the weight in just six months! She noted that her new routine has had a positive impact on her asthma and helps keep her stress at bay. Though the actress wrote that she was nervous about sharing progress photos, she ultimately decided to do it to motivate others.

Peter Facinelli: 30 Pounds

Actor Peter Facinelli dropped 30 pounds during quarantine by adjusting his diet. The actor told People that he cut out sugar and stopped eating out. He said that the pandemic caused him to focus inward and try to improve himself.

Part of this meant trying to get as fit as he could. Facinelli says that the weight loss has helped him feel less “sluggish,” affording him more energy. He’s been showing off his new physique on social media as he shows his support for The Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Ciara: 28 Pounds

Singer Ciara and quarterback Russell Wilson welcomed their second child in July 2020. Ciara went on to announce that she’d be using Weight Watchers to get back into her usual, fit shape.

At the start of 2021, she announced on Instagram that she was down 28 pounds! Best of all, she called the process of losing weight “easy, stress-free, and fun!” In addition to eating healthy, Ciara also stuck to a workout plan that includes cycling on her Peloton.

Adrienne Bailon: 20 Pounds

Television host Adrienne Bailon announced on Instagram that she was down 20 pounds as of May 2020. The singer told Prevention that she transformed her lifestyle by eating plant-based foods, drinking a gallon of water a day, and combining cardio with strength training.

In a YouTube video, Bailon stated that The Masked Singer motivated her to get into shape to help aid in her performance. To prepare, she would go on the elliptical for 45 minutes and sing at the same time. This way she could dance on stage without missing a note!

Wendy Williams: 25 Pounds

Host Wendy Williams revealed on her show that she dropped 25 pounds without even meaning to! She said that when quarantine first hit, she was overindulging in food. After a period, Williams found that she no longer desired the unhealthy meals she was eating.

Her diet naturally became leaner as her cravings changed. After a routine trip to the doctor, Williams discovered that she had reached her high school weight! She sticks to a pescatarian diet, practices Pilates, and works out with a personal trainer.

Daphne Oz: 50 Pounds

Though Daphne Oz is a nutrition author and former co-host of The Chew, she wasn’t above turning to Weight Watchers to help shed a few pounds during quarantine. After all, Oz had just given birth to her fourth child.

She joined the weightloss program in February of 2020 and told Mom Brain that the “guardrails” have helped her avoid stress eating. Oz told E! News that she’s gotten the hang of fitting in a 30-minute workout throughout the week, as well.

Steve Kazee: 18 Pounds

To keep up with fiance Jenna Dewan, Broadway star Steve Kazee turned to boxing class and steered away from processed foods, sugar, unhealthy fats, and carbs. As a result, Kazee dropped 18 pounds, which he said on Instagram was fueled by the birth of he and Dewan’s son.

The actor opened up on social media about his past struggles with health, saying that his cholesterol and blood pressure spiked at his heaviest weight. Kazee says that his new diet boosts his energy for workouts, making it possible to stay at a healthier weight.

Emily Simpson: 16 Pounds

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Emily Simpson announced in August 2020 that she had dropped 16 pounds and a whopping 10% body fat. She told Access Hollywood that she had lost weight in 2019 by working out with a personal trainer.

When quarantine began, though, she ended up heavier than before. After contracting COVID-19, Simpson recommitted to her health and got to her current weight. She trains at 6 a.m. three days per week and proudly announced on Instagram that she is “no longer categorized as obese.”

Art Smith: 70 Pounds

Celebrity chef Art Smith starting working toward a healthier self in February of 2020, and he went on to lose 70 pounds! He credits his friend, rugby player Lucas Cancelier, for helping him get into shape.

With Cancelier’s help, Smith started working out at home and going for runs. The chef also cut out processed sugars and modified his dessert intake. His huge weight loss wasn’t just for looks. As someone with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, Smith’s new lifestyle is especially important for his health.

Ree Drummond, Pioneer Woman

In Spring 2021, Celebrity chef Ree Drummond, AKA The Pioneer Woman, confessed that stay-at-home orders had led to her eating more throughout the day. She told her Tik Tok followers, “I can’t get away from food and I love to eat. Of course, it crept up on me through the years, especially during COVID.”

She made the decision to “get busy and lose some weight” and that she did! Drummond showed off her noticeably thinner figure on Tik Tok, along with her weight loss story. She shared that she’s lost 38 pounds so far, cutting calories and lifting weights. “I look better but I feel so much better and that’s what really counts.”

Joe Guidice: 70 Pounds

Joe Guidice of The Real Housewives of New Jersey dropped an estimated 70 pounds since being locked up back in 2016. After doing time, Guidice emerged looking completely transformed, and he’s gotten even fitter since the quarantine.

Guidice moved to Italy, which was struck hard amid the pandemic. In April of 2020, he turned to Instagram to encourage his followers to motivate themselves to exercise and “make a nice meal.” Guidice has certainly turned his life around and seems to be sticking to his healthy transformation.

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Melissa Gorga revealed to Us Weekly that quarantine actually helped her get into better shape. While Gorga was already very fit, she admitted to drinking more frequently at the start of the lockdown.

By July 2020, though, she had traded in adult beverages for added workouts. Gorga explained that going to the gym was her go-to in the face of quarantine boredom. For exercise, she prefers weight training and running. In terms of diet, the reality star eats clean and avoids carbohydrates in the afternoon.

David Burke

Celebrity chef David Burke revealed he’s slimmed down during quarantine. While he didn’t reveal an exact number, he did open up to about his weight loss transformation in June 2020.

Burke happily announced that all of his shirts fit now and joked, “I’ve got Jack LaLanne arms now. I felt my arm and thought I had some other guy in bed with me. My biceps are hard.” Like so many others, Burke took quarantine as an opportunity to slim down.

Katie Maloney: 20 Pounds

Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney announced on her Instagram that she was down 20 pounds thanks to the help of a nutritionist. She said that transforming her diet was especially helpful due to her insulin resistance.

She told HollywoodLife that she typically started her day with eggs and greens, then will have nuts and berries as a snack before a protein-filled salad for lunch. For dinner, she likes to opt for chicken with veggies. Maloney admits that quarantine makes it more challenging to be disciplined, but she says that overall she has a well-balanced diet.
